Just a few looks from Prada

Prada Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Fei Fei Sun. I love how rich and luxe this look is, from the fur to the deep chocolately brown of the coat – almost reddish – and the desert beige boot. Mmm.

Daphe Groeneveld.

Siri Tollerad.

Not okay:
Prada Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Anabela Belikova. This is an explosion of eurghh. And shiny at that.

Slightly better for some reason – nope, I take that back. Still bizarre and ugly:
Prada Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Sigrid Agren.

So other than the bizarre plaids and stripes (which I didn’t even bother including in here because I consider it practically unwearable) and the aforementioned unforgivable sparkles, it was nice. As always, I encourage you to take at look at the rest of the collection yourself.

This Prada boot. Mmm. It’s definitely unique and fun. I like the shape of the heel. And the colors.

Fendi, one of my perennial favorites. I thought of Europe, of Jane Austen, and of Van Gogh – don’t ask me why. The palette was subdued but rich, definitely saturated. What I didn’t like was how a lot of the looks weren’t very streamlined: bulky coats paired with a wider straight leg, worn with a lower heel; or a long skirt and a fairly boxy top. Worn separately, they’d be fine, nice and simple, but I didn’t always like the overall effect when worn together.
Just a few looks here –

Fendi Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Kasia Struss. I like the interesting jacket – the textures, cut and colors are all just unique when combined like this.

Fendi Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Arizona Muse. Not a fan of the skirt, but I love the fur.

Fendi Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Britt Maren. A simpler look, and I like it.

Fendi Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Abbey Lee Kershaw.

The shoes – I like the idea – the shape and color – but I’d have made the heel just a hair thinner and a pinch taller.

Fendi Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
This one… again, I’d have made the heel a bit taller, and maybe not orange.. but then, it’s unique and kind of appealing in its own funky way.

Fendi Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Hate this one. Not sorry to say it. Chunky and unattractive.

Fendi Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
This one I’d keep as is, height and all.

Righto. I need sleep. Check out the rest of the collection, it’s pretty good (coming from me).

Christian Dior Spring 2011 Couture

Dior’s couture show was – no surprise – luxe and, I thought, a little edgy in some ways, different. The look above, for example: the general silhouette is very classic and refined, then you look at the jacket and you get a deep V and a floppy collar. So maybe not edgy per se, but just… with a little twist. Definitely vamp-y.

Laura Blokhina

Same concept here. Traditional (I guess) skirt – which I love, the pleats have great motion –  paired with an orange top with blocky shoulders. The shoulders take away from the elegance of the silhouette and are juxtaposed to your first impression.

Nimue Smit

This is a ridiculous fur – exaggerated, over the top… but I bet it’d be ridiculously warm as well.

Christian Dior Spring 2011 Couture
Lindsey Wixson. Kind of a 40s silhouette on this one, a slightly more typical. I think the fabric has a lot to do with the feel of the look, if that makes sense. The grey has a lightness, a shimmer, and a volume to it that seems a bit unexpected. To me, anyway. Everyone interprets fashion in their own way.

Christian Dior Spring 2011 Couture
Daphne Groeneveld. This dress feels like spring and Easter to me. I like the cut of the top.

Christian Dior Spring 2011 Couture
Yulia Kharlaponova. Gorgeous, elegance, glamour at its best. Classic… just beautiful. Those black sweeping streaks – what are they? They remind me of either eyelashes or horse tails, or pony tails. And if you watch the video (how great is Style.com’s new feature? Love it!), you can see the shimmery dots that are scattered all over it. Just subtle enough to catch in the light, no disco themes here.

Christian Dior Spring 2011 Couture
Georgina Stojilkovic with the closing look – again, just pure elegance and glamour. I love the muted purple and almost a tinge of grey in this dress.

And of course – the shoes!

Honestly, I haven’t had time to keep up with any of the fashion weeks… very sad. I can’t help but feel obligated to share this Louis Vuitton shoe with you, though:

On my cousin’s photography blog (check it out, she’s so awesome), I found this picture of someone’s boot from a music festival – Chanel look-alike, anyone?

Chanel FW2010 – Chanel’s shaggy boot. Reminds me of a yak. I actually could see myself wearing these in the winter up here… maybe…?

Nordica.

Not sure where you’d buy this boot – I spent a couple minutes on Nordica’s site and couldn’t find it – but I’m sure if you looked around hard enough you could track some down. If one were so inclined.
