Lanvin. I quite liked it; one of my favorite shows so far.

Lanvin Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Liu Wen

Lanvin Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Milou van Groesen. I didn’t post this one so much for the dress, which I think would look better without the belt, but because Milou looks so awesome here. I hope to see her go places.

Lanvin Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Melissa Tammerjin. Not a fan of the hip handles on the skirt, but I like the blouse.

Lanvin Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Jacquelyn Jablonski. Love the cut of this one, and even the color – which could come dangerously close to being a gross mustardy-mold color, is nice.

Lanvin Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Codie Young.

Lanvin Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Frida Gustavsson.

Lanvin Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Alla Kostromichova. I love how the top of the neck is rounded, as are the shoulders.

As always, check out the rest.

Another of my favorite looks from Fall 2011: Burberry, of course, worn by Cara Delevingne. The military look has now shown up in some form or another in many of the past few seasons (kicked off, of course, by Balmain’s band jackets), and despite whatever the fashion critics du jour say, I think the general trend (pun intended) has always been and pretty much will always be cropping up somewhere, somehow. I like it here because it’s so basic and pared-down… speaking of pared down, if you watch the video Style.com has for this look and look at Cara’s legs (which sounds creepy but it isn’t), I think you’ll agree with me – these girls are too skinny! It just can’t be healthy for someone’s legs to look like that. It’s almost creepy.

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear

I have to include this look too, worn by Liu Wen – though I can’t say I’m a fan of the cut of the sleeves, I’m a sucker for an exaggerated, turned-up collar.

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear

Of the white looks towards the end of the show, this LWD stood out (Jacquelyn Jablonski) – a little mix of sailor, military, and Russian white:

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear

And, I’m sorry, but what’s up with the shoe? It’s a bad mix of a 70s platform, a mule and a 50s kitten heel. Maybe with a little bit of wannabe stripper heel thrown in as well.

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear

Another “I’m sorry, but…”: the bizarre, volumized, cow-print newsboy caps. I’m sorry but… I am *not* a fan of those hats for women. At all. Guys, sure – if done correctly (read: classily, if that’s a word). But on women… whenever I see one, I automatically flash back to the Britney Spears et al. of my preteen years: all sequins ande denim and/or suede newsboy caps. It’s a bad place to be stuck, but that’s where those hats belong.

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear

The rest of the collection, I generally like, although I found a few of the cuts of the jackets to be unflattering, which is saying something when you’re talking about the Abbey Lee Kershaws and Jacquelyn Jablonskis of the world. Righto, off to study French. Ciao!

Yes, it’s that time of year again, the time when we all pack up and squeeze all the clothes and sugar we can into our allowed one suitcase (ridiculous, I know) and bus off to a camp an hour away… for… BAND CAMP!!!

Band camp is a totally amazing experience. For those who have gone, no words are needed. For those who haven’t, no words can fully explain it. It’s just one of those things… it holds a strange, nearly tangible mystique. It’s like a cult, but more fun. Way more fun.

So to tide you over, I present you with some random stuff (street style, Fall runway looks I like all over again, etc). Enjoy and talk to you (ish) on Saturday!

YSL, like so many other fall lines, was monochrome and dark – but not necessarily depressing and recession-y. Pilati took the classic moto jacket and revamped it, amping it up a bit; realistic streetwear was rampant. Yay!

Moulded leather trench, delish.

Caroline Trentini. Deep V.

At Stella McCartney, we were treated to not only the miniscule-heeled vegan thigh-highs (!), but mini-trenches that doubled as dresses, part of her move – seemingly – towards a more refined look, as opposed to the sportier look of previous collections.

Stella McCartney Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Natasha Poly. Big knits, vegan boots big hits. Belt.

Stella McCartney Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Freja Beha Erichsen.

Stella McCartney Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Lily Donaldson.

Stella McCartney Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Sigrid Agren. Classic Blazer. Not Sure Why I Capitalized That.

Stella McCartney Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Sasha Pivovarova. Turquoisey & sheer.

Stella McCartney Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Ali Stephens. Love the sheer, but the sunbursty slices are a bit too risque pour moi.

Stella McCartney Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Eniko Mihalik. Love this. Sexy but feminine & girly at the same time.

Stella McCartney Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Catherine McNeil. Shiny!

Stella McCartney Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Raquel Zimmerman. Big! Shiny(ish)! 80s(ish)(sort of). While I’m not convinced of its wearability, I love this coat.  😛

VIKTOR & ROLF were clear on their theme: theatre. With the models sporting white mask-like makeup and draping abounding (somewhat resembling theatre curtains, perhaps?), you were transported to a stage with Roman sculptures – another influence (draping) – and presented with look after look, a large number of which could easily be swapped from the runway to an event.

Viktor & Rolf Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Enika Mihalik. Grey trench with ruffles, ruffles everywhere!

Viktor & Rolf Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Such a sweet trome l’oeil coat. Texture!

POLLINI
This collection had a very traditional feel: riding boots, suede pieces, big-shouldered equestrian jackets…

Pollini Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Raquel Zimmerman. Buttoned, shouldered, gloriously equestrian-chic jacket.

Pollini Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Jac. Classic colours and materials – leather and tweed – with a modern twist with the shoulders.

Pollini Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Tao Okamoto. Scrolling motifs on a simple dress dress it up. Armwarmers, tights, and riding boots.

Pollini Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Elsa Sylvan. Bringing the scrolls some colour and new (well, not really – trumpet sleeves are ages old) shapes.

Pollini Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Katrin Thormann. Very structured and detailed jacket with basic black boots, a very simply chic look.

Pollini Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Marina Peres. Not your average jumper, not at all…

Pollini Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Gorgeous ruffled and sheer minidress, huge and creative gloves.

MAXMARA
Subtle luxury, focus on the classics, and no 80’s trends at all. A breath of fresh air, you could say.

MaxMara Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Vlada Roslyakova. Simple, neutral chic; just a hint of detail on the shoe. Gorgeous red hair as well – I wish I could pull off a redhead look.

MaxMara Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Myf Shepard. Again, simple & classic looks. Nice collar on this one.

MaxMara Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Liu Wen. Loose, grey trousers, grey gloves, dark camel coat. Mmmm.

MaxMara Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Jac. Sleek black dress, silvery fur coat. Love that hair.

MaxMara Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Karmen Pedaru. Loose black trench with cuffed kimono sleeves.

MaxMara Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Playing with different shades of nudes and beiges; very pale pink silk skirt; fur coat.

MaxMara Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Constance Jablonski. Seemingly seamless, pale, wide-lapelled coat with cuffed kimono sleeves again.

MaxMara Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Anja Rubik. Last look: camel gloves, dark camel/brown flowy coat with curling lapels.

FRANCESCO SCOGNAMIGLIO

What a crazy name. Scognamiglio.
Dramatic blouses, studded boots, sweater dresses… very wearable stuff, people. Or so you thought.

Francesco Scognamiglio Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Dramatic coat, sheer top, silver platforms, all with sort of a futuristic feel.

Francesco Scognamiglio Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Alina Zaharia. Outrageously ruffled blouse, huge necklace, bow and lace skirt, white tie platforms.

Francesco Scognamiglio Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Another ruffled, semi-sheer blouse with gold structured pants.

Francesco Scognamiglio Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Karolin Wolter. Classic gold-and-black-lace-overlay dress with slightly pouffy sleeves.

Francesco Scognamiglio Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Whoosh! Flowy and dramatic black mini. Wearable, this.

Francesco Scognamiglio Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Iris Strubegger. Huge bow, gold platforms. Gorgeous.

Some street style:

Great tweed skirt and camel bowler. Sartorialist.

Beautiful light fur scarf.

Natasha Vojnovik, the face of Gareth Pugh F/W 2009, taking a casual stroll in brand-spanking-new Gareth Pugh. This begs the question, How on earth does one stroll casually in Gareth Pugh? Well, apparently she can. Props to her.  🙂  JAK&JIL.

Ah, LFW truly is in full swing now! The 80’s look has carried over across the pond, along with the monochrome and neutral looks. Let’s have a look-see, shall we?

Starting with Aquascutum.

Aquascutum Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Umm… yellow plaid? Ok…

Aquascutum Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Almost a Burberry print. Fur detaily on the shoulder. (Coat? Scarf? Live animal? Who knows)

Aquascutum Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Black, white & grey. Chic? I think so… Nice trench, which is what the classic Aquascutum was originally known for – its raingear.

Aquascutum Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Actually really love this one – all the colours blend really nicely, and the lace accent at the lapel is a wonderful touch.

Aquascutum Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Ali Stephens. Rouched white bandy skirt under a flowy, dark, dramatic cape-like coat.

Aquascutum Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Busy coat, what with the structured… wrist bits, whatever they’re called. Ah, cuffs. Structured cuffs and all that abstract plaid makes for a great coat, actually.

Aquascutum Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Cute polka dot b&w coat with a bow.

Aquascutum Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Nice lines on this one, and nice gloves as well. Love the mixing of 3 totally different, but complementary prints.

Aquascutum Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Nice floppy bow accent up top.

Aquascutum Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

I’d love the coat if it weren’t for the buffalo plaid lining. I don’t know if it’s just from growing up surrounded by hicks in it, but I have acquired a strong aversion to buffalo plaid. Sorry. Myf Shepard.

Aquascutum Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Like this one. Nice colours & sleeves, and cute little skirt.

Aquascutum Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Liu Wen. Another good look – ruffles, shoulders, dramatic neckline.

Aquascutum Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Imogen Morris Clarke. All black, all layers, partially ruffly, all chic.

OK, moving on to Chloe for OC.

Part eclectic, part London punk, all very Chloe.

Chloë Sevigny for O.C. Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Keeping it simple with cool shoes and a striped sweater.

Chloë Sevigny for O.C. Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

I find it a bit weird/disturbing that I’d totally wear those pants. (More disturbing, though? This guy’s ‘stache and bowl-over-the-head cut.)

Chloë Sevigny for O.C. Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Gorgeous wedges, totally 80’s hair and pants.

Chloë Sevigny for O.C. Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

So cute & wearable! Seriously, I could walk away in this and not change a thing.

Chloë Sevigny for O.C. Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Ah! Gotta love the dark grey drapey, hooded top, especially with cuffed basic pants and killer shoes.

Chloë Sevigny for O.C. Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Again, very 80’s. Love this, though… in a strange way I don’t quite understand… and the Shoes. AGH.

Chloë Sevigny for O.C. Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

What is it with the creeper guys???

Short & sweet, Chloe. Moving right along to Jaeger London, yumm…

Sort of a dark 80’s vibe. Nothing groundbreaking, but very cool.

Jaeger London Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Great jacket.

Jaeger London Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Karlie Kloss. Lots of black again. Nice booties & jacket.

Jaeger London Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Ah, intense fur! Katy Fogarty. Great leggings too.

Jaeger London Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Blocked, furry coat. Mmm.

Jaeger London Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

More stripes. Nice skirt and boots.

Jaeger London Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Jourdan Dunn. Great shoes and very simple white tee dress.

Jaeger London Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Imogen Morris-Clarke. Love the suit, and I’m starting to really want those shoes. And have I mentioned the hat? Sort of a furry old-school cop hat?

Jaeger London Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Ali Stephens. Love the coat, the lines, the optical illusion (sort of). Boots!

Jaeger London Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Imogen again. Weird print, love the shoulders and the skirt – nice touch of green there.

Jaeger London Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Anastasija Kondratjeva. Crazy coat alert! Love! Love!

Jaeger London Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Constance Jablonski. Love the fur & shoulders, and patterned pants! Or is it a jumpsuit? …nope, pants.

Jaeger London Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Katy again. Same print, but in purple. Fierce. (Did I really just say that? …crap.)

Jaeger London Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Suit!

Jaeger London Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Katrin Thormann. Love the print, the slightly metallicness, and the crazy jeweled neckline.
Pretty nice collection. Now for Christopher Kane!

Christopher Kane Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Of course, love the ruffles, the beige/nude colour, and the fur… but look at the shoes! FLATS on a runway! AHH! Ha ha. I love me a classic oxford.

Christopher Kane Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Ali Stephens. Love the dress (sheer + ruffles).

Christopher Kane Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Slightly different take on the look, and a change of shoes. (Note: I’ve got a few quizzes to study for, so I’ll be relatively succinct for the last 2 designers. Sorry.)

Christopher Kane Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Christopher Kane Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Christopher Kane Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Christopher Kane Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Love the geometricness and the lines and the sheer ruffles. This reminds me of an ancient bronze wall, pieced together by hand. (Not that I’ve ever seen such a wall, but hey…)

Christopher Kane Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Kinga Rajzak. Lines and a corset-style waist.

Christopher Kane Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

More sheer, nude ruffles.
Again, pretty collection. Had a very similar feel to Jaeger’s.

A few looks from Twenty8Twelve:

Twenty8Twelve Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Ali Stephens. This collection had a lot of flowy top and black jackets & pants. Leather, of course.

Twenty8Twelve Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Sophie Srej. (She’s in a bunch of photos above as well). Drapey neck and 80s-style print.

Twenty8Twelve Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Love the shoulders & neck on this one.

Twenty8Twelve Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Liu Wen. One-shoulder, simple dress.

Twenty8Twelve Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Constance. Love the shoes, and look: JEANS! And Balmain copycat shoulders.

Twenty8Twelve Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Jourdan Dunn with the closing look. Great colour, but doesn’t this look so similar to Balmain??

OK, last one: Vivienne Westwood Red Label.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Red coat! I particularly like the wide, open collar.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Cute jumper, thigh-high boots (another big trend), and… if this isn’t 80’s hair, then tell me what is.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Interesting layers there. Oxfords again!

Vivienne Westwood Red Label Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Even more layers!

Vivienne Westwood Red Label Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

80’s hair! Good dress.

Ha ha wow sorry, I totally trailed off towards the end of this post. I should probably start separating them into their own posts, by designer… eh, maybe. Ciao!
