Mmmhmm. Note the lack of towering heels… good for arches, but not so good for people with, shall we say, non-modelesque legs. (Moi, par example?)

Jumping around a bit to Fendi // Fall 2009

Fendi Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

bustiers & corsets = a s/s staple. fall, too. so pretty much anytime you feel like bringing on they sexy without being too, you know, whorish. haha.
yeah i’m a bit loopy… dry coughing, headaches, and achiness tends to do that to you. ciao.

A few bits and pieces from NYFW, starting with the astounding fact that Y-3 has incorporated children’s clothing into their Fall ’09 line.

Little models

Y-3 Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear
Y-3 // Fall 2009
Carolina Herrera’s line was filled with sheen-y (is that a word? sheen-y? sheened? whatever.) satins in deep, rich hues that – for me – took me to a magical forest. Now, I know it sounds like I’m on magic mushrooms, but just take a look at these forest-green gowns, silver and blue frocks, and dark brown dresses… you’ll see what I mean. (I hope.)
Carolina Herrera Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear
Greens and browns, both slightly metallic = forest feel. I don’t know. This reminds me of the foresty theme, but also of a 1700s/1800s huntress or something. (But I wasn’t these personally, so one can only assume that one wore metallic green riding breeches…)
Carolina Herrera Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear
Slightly iridescent, shimmery deep green dress with an almost leafy pattern… love it.
Carolina Herrera Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear
Model: Ali Stephens
Same thing, but longer and more princess-y with the wraparound cape thing, attached at the wrists. Mmm. I love this colour.
Carolina Herrera Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear
Ah. This one reminds me of moss on pale rocks at the base of a waterfall. Or just moss.
Carolina Herrera Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear
A fish in the waterfall, perhaps?
Carolina Herrera Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear
A hawk? Haha idk. I like the ruffles at the bottom of this – it sort of balances it out, with the huge ruffles at top and the more understated layers at the bottom.
Carolina Herrera Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear
Model: Jourdan Dunn
A shiny rock? Ok so I don’t really have a forest analogy for this one. But I love the shiny, drapey top with a basic grey pant. And Jourdan rocks it, so it’s a win-win. (I like the hair in these too, sort of braided-up-princessy.)
Carolina Herrera Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear
Lovely tweed coat here.
Carolina Herrera Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear
Love the texture! Love it! Love it!
Carolina Herrera Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear
Model: Karlie Kloss
Love the black gown with a bit of grey peeping out at the top, and the semi-sheer skirt.
Ok, since I’m only about 15 photos into this, here’s the link at Style.com so you can see for yourself. There’s not way I can put all 35 on here. Check it out!

Alrighty, moving on. Here’s a bit about Jonathan Saunders… mmm. His collection was very… different… than the rest of the designers, for the most part. While others stuck mainly to subdued, darker hues, he went ahead and used reds, lime greens, and some blues – of course, there was black and grey and silver, too. It *is* a fall collection.  😛

Jonathan Saunders Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Metallic green bandage dress with a leather(?) shrug thing… While I’m not sure if I’d wear this (the dress alone, YES… with the head wrap and jacket, it’s questionable…)

Jonathan Saunders Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Blue! Puff sleeves! Really really really puffy puff sleeves! Red heels! Needless to say, love it.

Jonathan Saunders Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Love the jewelled & bow-ed collar.

Jonathan Saunders Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Oh look, a sculptured red skirt! With a metallic green top! For fall! Yippee!

Jonathan Saunders Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

More blue with geometric black… things… I like this one, actually.

More red + black, love the cutout (or cutout-look-alike) and the gloves.

Collection

Mmm, and just a quick peek at DVF, whose collection entitled “Nomad” was a pleasant change of pace from all the somber shows reflecting the economy.

Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Love the hat and the rich look of the wrappish dress… sort of a metallicy dark, dark bronze? Goldish? Brown? Difficult to make out. Eh, whatever it is, it’s gorgeous. Pour moi, s’il-vous plait?

Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Red bag! Black tunic! Crazy hat! Love this. I especially like the line it creates.

Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Leopard print and… OK, I officially really really really want one of these hats. Or maybe I’ll attempt a recreation… hah. That’d be an accomplishment.

Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

All, DVF // Fall 2009

Major print/colour mix on this one – sort of crazily funky, and with that yarn-ball-looking-ish hat… wow. And heyyy, I just noticed the bag. !

Collection

Alexander Wang Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear

Just the one Alexander Wang // Fall 2009 look… hugely oversized, quasi-sheer cardi = love.

Et enfin, some menswear…

Jonathan Saunder’s Spring 2009 line was just what we needed with the bleak economic outlook – fun, bright, uplifting colours and designs. His dresses were flirty and wearable, his jackets just funky enough, and his ballerina skirts perfection.

Ossie Clark // Spring 2009. More on his work later…

Agh, I need to cram for history. (Essay & Analysis wasn’t good… an hour to write a 5-paragraph evaluation of your work in the class… paragraphs 12-15 sentences each… I barely finished. Health, half the stuff I knew, the other half I was just… “what the hell? did we even learn this?” Oh well.)

At any rate I need to stop procrastinating. Ciao.

Kimonos have intrigued me lately; while they’re not super popular on the runways this season, I still think they’re cool. And historic. And pretty.

Mmhmm, not so much the pants + blazer + oxfords + hat anymore… we’ve gone girl! (Although masculine touches are still – and probably always will be – sort of a classic style. I hope… for me it will be!)

Floaty frocks, ruffled tops, voluminous skirts and bright colours were abundant on the runways; in the streets, vintage lace dresses (worn with a belted cardi or loose blazer) are all the rage.

If you want to only be semi-girly, just add something… un-feminine. Example: wearing a floral dress, but adding a tough jacket (leather usually works) and fierce heels.

I love this – it combines femininity (the skirt) with a sort of Chinese-ish (the silk does that) military jacket. I just find it so interesting to look at.
