Just a quick look at Gucci. Very 70s-inspired, which I like, though a few proportions have been played with, which is fine. Lots of eye-poppingly bright colors mixed in with more traditional neutral hues, furs and such.

Natasha Poly. I like the top half of this like; the bottom’s too bulky for my liking. The big cape should be paired with a streamlined pant, maybe a flare for the full 70s effect or a slim straight leg.

Again, I like to top half, but the bottom, not so much.

Gucci is always hit-or-miss for me; I’d say this was a hit, though that might just be my love of anything older than 1985  🙂

Another of my favorite looks from Fall 2011: Burberry, of course, worn by Cara Delevingne. The military look has now shown up in some form or another in many of the past few seasons (kicked off, of course, by Balmain’s band jackets), and despite whatever the fashion critics du jour say, I think the general trend (pun intended) has always been and pretty much will always be cropping up somewhere, somehow. I like it here because it’s so basic and pared-down… speaking of pared down, if you watch the video Style.com has for this look and look at Cara’s legs (which sounds creepy but it isn’t), I think you’ll agree with me – these girls are too skinny! It just can’t be healthy for someone’s legs to look like that. It’s almost creepy.

I have to include this look too, worn by Liu Wen – though I can’t say I’m a fan of the cut of the sleeves, I’m a sucker for an exaggerated, turned-up collar.

Of the white looks towards the end of the show, this LWD stood out (Jacquelyn Jablonski) – a little mix of sailor, military, and Russian white:

And, I’m sorry, but what’s up with the shoe? It’s a bad mix of a 70s platform, a mule and a 50s kitten heel. Maybe with a little bit of wannabe stripper heel thrown in as well.

Another “I’m sorry, but…”: the bizarre, volumized, cow-print newsboy caps. I’m sorry but… I am *not* a fan of those hats for women. At all. Guys, sure – if done correctly (read: classily, if that’s a word). But on women… whenever I see one, I automatically flash back to the Britney Spears et al. of my preteen years: all sequins ande denim and/or suede newsboy caps. It’s a bad place to be stuck, but that’s where those hats belong.

The rest of the collection, I generally like, although I found a few of the cuts of the jackets to be unflattering, which is saying something when you’re talking about the Abbey Lee Kershaws and Jacquelyn Jablonskis of the world. Righto, off to study French. Ciao!

While I’m still wallowing in a massive post-bronchitis (or maybe I still have it?? who knows) head cold, rather than post pictures of my own fantastic style these days (hark! sweats, hoodies, fuzzy socks, tissues, and hot cider with honey!), I’ll share some of slightly better taste. Photos from Vanessa Jackman.

Righto. Off to sludge myself through another weary, dreary day of knowledge-infested school. Spring had better be here to stay, or I’m taking off.

Celine Pre-fall 2010: Moving from the sleek lines of SS2010… to outerwear and other such *gasp!* daily-use items… (if a little unconventional in themselves, but what’s to be expected?)

Celine Pre-Fall 2010
Jacquelyn Jablonski. Love that collar. A lot. I’m a sucker for anything with collars – reminiscent of Victorian times, I feel. Something edgy and mysterious, even alluring, about a tall, chicly pointed collar.

Celine Pre-Fall 2010
Lisanne de Jong. Not a fan of the rest (red pumps aside, of course), but the leather cape… mmmm….

Celine Pre-Fall 2010
Lisanne De Jong. Something about the combination of shapes in this one… and the green pumps… and the random feathers/fur (which is it?). The pants, too – cut a little short, with a little flare.

Celine Pre-Fall 2010
Jacquelyn Jablonski. Ostrich plumage!

Interesting shapes… Jacquelyn again.
