As you may (or may not) know, I live in Michigan, where the joke is that the three seasons are winter, winter, winter, and road construction. Which is mostly true. For a while, though, between ridiculous winter and stifling humidity, there’s this lovely season known as SPRING. In an unfortunate twist of nature, though, it came up quite suddenly. The trouble with this is that
I HAVE NO SPRING/SUMMER CLOTHES.
Seriously. Because it’s been so cold and nasty for so long, your mind eventually turns to the mindset that it will Always Be Winter and Cold. So when stores started showing springy things – loose tops, shorts, dresses, and such – I turned up my nose and huddled into my scarves and layers and went for the warm stuff.
So, thanks to my inability to plan for/see what’s coming soon (aka warm weather), I have a couple pairs of cutoffs and some tank tops. Great. (Which, I’ll admit, is all I usually wear when I’m just loafing around the house during summer). But for spring – oh, spring! – I want tailored shorts, a couple blouses, SANDALS SANDALS SANDALS (I have, like, three pairs), a trench (it’s a shame I don’t already), a couple skirts…
*Sigh* Sometimes I wish I could just move to the mountains or an English cottage in the countryside and wear the same four things and not care. But I don’t, so somehow I have to procure these things…
But anyway. I managed to have a pretty fun/productive first day or break: I went on a crappy run (there is definitely something going on with my right hip, but I won’t bore you), spent like three hours in church, and spent an infinitely more enjoyable three hours outside taking senior pictures for my friend B.
A not-very-edited and quality-reduced (or reduced-quality) preview… haha. I AM SO TIRED.
Not what you’d call “flattering” – the shenanigans we get into when left to our own devices (and you see here, as evidence, my total lack of Good Spring Clothes – though, in my defense, you don’t really dress up for an outdoorsy-jaunt-y shoot). I AM SOOOO TIRED. And another day of fun is to follow… I need my beauty rest, dahlings, guten nacht.
