As you may have gathered from my previous rants posts, it’s bloody freezing up here. So the temptation is strong – very strong – to succumb and forgo your style for jeans with underamour slipped under and a couple thick, fleecy and/or woolen layers up top, the effect of which is decidedly not cute. So this morning, before I trudge off to school* (that’s a lie – my mom drives us in, because I’m one of the lame juniors sans voiture)(today TOTALLY should have been a snow day, no doubt!), here are some coats and furry things to keep me warm mentally.
I’ve discovered that pretty much all faux fur coats are warm – don’t ask me why. Layers? Fur?
A massive, mega-furry, uber-pouf hat? Mais ouais, c’est necessaire!
Utilitarian/sailor-mix duffel coat? Sure, sure – works for winter layers as well as a spring coat.

And yes, a pair of grey suede thigh-highs would be the perfect thing for pulling on over my tights and socks and anything else I can get on my feet to protect my toes from frostbite!
An all-black dress with this silhouette – flared ballerina-esque skirt, very fitted U-neck with long sleeves. To be worn with various fur coats and boots of varying heights. Oh, speaking of…
I need to find – and have been searching for, fruitlessly – the perfect pair of (a) flat black/grey boots with just a smidgen of a heel, and (b) either cognac or dark brown riding boots of some type. Necessaire, indeed! If I don’t stop wearing heels every day, my Achilles is going to start really hating me (aka get shorter, which is BAD). So I need a couple pairs (two or three for now) of flat boots/booties for the sake of my feet. Hey, any reason to justify *another* pair of shoes, right? 😉
For my cheap, short grey suede pair, I’m going to I-know-they’re-not-going-to-make-it-through-the-winter-so-why-not-get-a-cheap-pair? route and will probably pick these F21 booties up for $27 – not bad, though I have yet to see them in person. Hopefully this weekend, though if this snow keeps up, who knows?
Sigh. That’s about all I have time/effort/the will/energy to do now… I have an article to write (involving a mystery Marine captain who decided to send our school his mission flag – why? I must admit I felt like quite the CIA detective snooping around online, compiling a document – dossier, shall I say? – all about this guy, Matthew A. Seavitte. I found out quite a bit, which makes me wonder in turn – how much can people find out about me if they set their mind to it? A bit disturbing if you let your mind wander. Ah, I’m off to read/nap/draw/something. Oh, or do homework. *scoff*
One last thing – I finished reading The Godfather today. GREAT BOOK. READ IT.
*I started writing this in the morning but didn’t have time to finish, hence the semi-confusing phrase. Mais ca m’est egal, n’est pa?
