Well, folks, it’s that time of year again… and no, I’m not referring to the opportunity for seemingly the entire female teenage population of my town (minus a few – my friends and me) to dress as Skank-o-Holics and Whorealicious sexy policemen and what have you. Just for the record, I’ll be spending my Halloween in my basement with a few friends watching semi-obscure British comedy – Black Books and Eddie Izzard, anyone? – accompanied by some combination of donuts, hot cider, and Godiva – not necessarily in that order.
The time of year I’m referring to is the reason I’m going to bed early on this Thursday-that’s-pretending-to-be-a-Friday-because-it’s-a-long-weekend: XC regionals. Tomorrow. As usual, the weather is slated to be pretty much standard almost-but-not-quite-November running weather: windy, rainy, and muddy. Wooot.
Actually, it’s usually pretty nice running in the horizontal rain – every year, Regionals have been disgusting weather-wise and I’ve always PRd. And since this year my dad is running with me (it’s an open race, which basically means free-for-all), he can pace me and hopefully I’ll achieve my normal time of low 23s (my goal: 23:12 or under).
Wish me luck!
