Preen was good, I thought: the collection had a good tone, channeling mainly a light, romantic, almost lingerie-esque vibe. Very loose and sexy, but not in an overt way. Again (since it is Spring fashion week), the colours were mostly subdued – whites, lavenders, etc. Tulle and light fabrics are prominent, but it’s not all fairytale material… metallic silver pants, anyone?
The one thing, though: the ruffle detailing – while amazing and immaculate – adds a lot of bulk and volume, so I’m not sure how well that would translate to real life. On the runway, though, I love it.
Patricia Van Der Vliet. Funny, there are some UO pants (on clearance that heyy I need to order really soon) that look pretty much like this.
Kasia Struss. I like the mesh and the ruffle detailing is amazing.
Iris Strubegger. Crazy pants, non? Love the top, and it looks fairly easy to DIY…
Irina Kulikova. Love the simplicity of this – all white, simple cut for the jacket, and the ruffles are nicely placed on this look.
Diana Farkhulina. I like how the jacket is longer and sort of flows into the skirt; the sheer, romantic ruffles underneath really make the look.
Anya Kazakova. This is an example of the ruffles (which I keep accidentally spelling ‘ruddles’, haha) adding extra volume on the hips. (It’s even filed under the look BODY-CONSCIOUS on Style.com)
Ali Stephens. I like the dress – draping and triple straps on top – but mostly I put this on here because Ali looks so damn old.
Katrin Thormann. More metallic pants. Super fun, but I could never pull them off. (I can see Rumi of fashiontoast in them easily, though).
Yulia Leontieva. More sheer lace and ruffles, so sexy.
Elsa Sylvan. Grey and pink, fresh colours for the season. I like this one a lot – for the colours and also for the placement of the mesh cutouts. It has a sort of mod-70s-futuristic combination going on, which I love.
Irina Kulikova. How could I not put this on here? It’s not everyday you see a bubblegum pink slouchy suit, even on the runway.
Heidi Mount. Long black dress with mulitple skinny-rope straps and bright yellow shoes is not something you’d immediately think of for spring, but I think it works. Again, the colours aren’t normally seen for Spring too much.
Magdalena Frackowiak. Extreme case of extra volume via ruffles.
Final thoughts: pretty good. I liked the looser looks especially – the drapey soft dresses and the slouchy suits and pants – and some of the bodycon looks (the black lace one especially). The ruffles were really the only detrimental factor I could find in this collection.
