…as I found out (again) today… (the previous time was a day-long track invite… ugh). While I thoughtfully packed SPF-70 spray-on sport sunscreen, I foolishly neglected (forgot…) to actually apply it, and because I was facing pretty much one way, my left arm is now much redder than my right. In addition to my asymmetric tan, as many people realise, airshows involve a lot of looking up, where the sun is. This, oftener than not, gives the viewer a fetching [aviator]shaped] raccoon-eye effect. Definitely not cool.
So, to the point: wear sunscreen, even if you think the sun’s not a factor. It always is. (If you do get seriously burned, be sure to wash and moisturise!)
On the bright (ha ha!) side, the planes were awesome. I seriously wanted to sign up for the Air Force then and there… except for the whole getting-shot-at-and-possibly-killed, plus-my-parents-would-never-let-me thing. Since my older brother was shooting with his 300 mm, I got to occasionally take up the wider-angle 7200 mm… heaven, pure photographic bliss! I am so ready to ditch my puny Coolpix and blow all my savings on a D40 and, like, 2 lenses. But it is so worth it, man.
Mmm, off to eat the Traditional Fourth of July Cook-Out fare… and I can’t say I have any arguments with that!
Happy Fourth of July 🙂
An F18 – I so want to fly one of these someday.
PS – so now I randomly want to go to Coachella. Road trip, baby!
