I’m back. West Virgina – all 23 hours that we were actually there – was pretty cool. We hiked a bit – nothing like Colorado, mostly sort of gently rolling mountains – and my brother got some amazing photos, comme toujours, but I got some to remember the trip with… grr, the silly little Nikon Coolpix. I should’ve just went ahead and gotten the SLR, these point & shoots just annoy me now, haha.
Ahh, for some reason my internet hates me today and won’t let me upload ANYTHING. 😦
I read Crime & Punishment over the 17 hours of driving we did in 4 days… the first half was ehh – my dad asked me how it was, and I replied, “It’s like hitting yourself with a brick.” I think I may have just not been in a real reading mood, although Dostoevsky (and most of the Russians, actually) tend to take a while to develop the plot and spend lots of time on details/rants/conversations. The second half, which I spent most of the drive home reading, was much faster-paced and more interesting. I actually really, really liked it! Although now I’m diving into Ivanhoe – I think a break from the Russians will be good. I read The Old Man and the Sea over Lucky Charms this morning on my back porch, which was nice.

I’d forgotten just how hot and humid and sticky it gets here in summer… It’s noon and nearly 80 with about 1,000,000% humidity. On my to-do list today: clean my room, read, maybe apply at the dry-cleaner’s for a job (cringe), and do abs and weights, as I’m totally and completely and utterly out of shape and un-toned. It’s amazing what one week of complete inactivity (due to illness!) will do to you…
