I’m hoping today will be my RECOVERY DAY! (It’s supposed to be really nice out, plus there are like 5 grad parties today…) Throat still kills, but no fever 😀
Oh, ok, and what about the Iranian election? Seems pretty fishy, doesn’t it? I mean, Ahmadinejad was behind in the polls, then suddenly he comes out on top 62.6% to Moussavi’s 34%… and after that (and the ensuing riots, violence, protests, and vandalism)(oh, and one victory speech), politicians, clerics, and other public officials are placed under house arrest, texting is shut down, Facebook is blocked, and Moussavi mysteriously disappears (there’s a rumor that he too was placed under house arrest). Moussavi’s web site was shut down and his campaign offices attacked. Plus, there’s the little detail of the state news announcing that Ahmadinejad had won just two hours after polls closed (the election results previous to this election have always been announced the next day). I dunno, but that smells like RIGGED ELECTION.
To be fair: Moussavi’s radical/liberal policies appeal to women, young people, and generally people who want change. People who are stuck firmly in their old ways and beliefs would be/were outraged by these system-bucking new ideas; it stands to reason that these people would vote for Ahmadinejad. Still, though, it seems like Moussavi was so ahead in the popular polls on Friday that is seems unlikely that Ahmadinejad would change everyone’s minds in a few hours to take the election by a huge margin.
