Everyone’s saying that MJ’s fall show was a “nostalgic kiss to the past, to a city that doesn’t really exist anymore” (referring to NYC of old). And I’m inclined to agree: big shoulders, the neons popping out everywhere, 80’s crimped hair all hailed back to NYC’s golden age. Well, one of them.
Love the pop of the yellow scarf against a charcoal-grey sweater… and the skirt is just… mmmmm. Oh, I’ve just noticed the gloves – yay gloves! That’s one thing I know I’m going to be buying a lot of, starting… well, now. Stock up for fall, ladies!
Bold shoulders + neon gloves + disco skirt + fur coat = an eye-popping, signature MJ look.
Love the skirt. Love. (The top’s not bad either!) 😛
Ok, this is on my list of favourite dresses from Fall ’09. He’s taken an already asymmetric look – one-armed – and gone further with it by adding all the nips and layers to it; I love the pink peeping out! And those shoes need to be in my closet ASAP, por favor.
Coat, shoes, neckline… as great as they all, they’re just tuned out by the HAIR. Can’t you just picture taking a hat off that model and the hair popping up with a WHOOSH and a FOOM sound? Yeah. I can.
Love the [can’t find an adjective to describe it] neckline on this goldy-mustard top.
This is… very… interesting… I didn’t put this one on here because I like it (GASP!)(although the necklace is nice), but because at first glance I thought this was a weird-looking transvestite. I’m sure the model is pretty, but… I’m sorry. I thought of Marylin Manson when I say this. Or Alice Cooper. Or Kiss. See what I mean?
Model: Kinga Rajzak
Love the necklace and the shape of the dress… for some reason, the gold just isn’t speaking to me. I don’t know why. It’s a weird feeling.
Love the coat and – from when I can see of it – the dress underneath. (The colour’s nice, at any rate.)
Ha ha, I like this slightly Star-Trek-esque pale pinkish-nudey (technical terms, those) top, and the necklace. I like the hair/makeup look too.
Wow. This is so MJ. It just is. Love the hair & the sunglasses.
Sort of a dark & imposing, yet fashionble & chic, look… especially with that mile-high hair which I have just remembered looks exactly like some hair I put with a few gowns a couple months ago (my own designs). Freaky.
Model: Chanel Iman
Love the dress & necklace, but look at the headpiece too – scrumptious! (….I dunno. *shrug*)
A tad late for Valentine’s day… I love this coat, though. Love.
Semi-androgynous 80’s pimp? (But we all know I’d wear that blazer-ish-jacket-thing if I could get my hands on it. Ha ha, I’m smiling just thinking about it…)
Model: Karlie Kloss
Love the yellow, but I also love all the geometric little cuts and the shape of this coat. Dress? Coat?
Model: Elsa Sylvan
Just your average, run-of-the-mill floral bodysuit. With a lovely light blue coat. No biggie.
Fierce was the first word that popped into my head. Confident, another. Anyone would have to be both to truly rock this bright purple coat & shades. Love it!
Model: Yulia Kharlaponova
Slightly futuristic? Sure. Love the asymmetric hem on the jacket, and the gloves, and the shoes.
Quasi-Egyptian headdress and hot pink leggings, not something you see every day. Love the coat.
Again, just so Marc Jacobs. Love.
Model: Natasha Poly
This may possibly be the most normal (relatively speaking) piece in the whole collection… and yet it’s ruched, hot pink, and has slightly puffy shoulders. That says something about the rest, I think. Simply divine, dahling. Diiivine. (Ha ha, I don’t think I got enough sleep last night… I stayed up and watched 10 Things I Hate About You. LOVE that movie so much, and HL is so cute in it. Mmm. It’s so weird that he’s dead… *shudder*)
Model: Jourdan Dunn
Mmm, purple! I like the ruching on this one particularly.
Love the neckline.
Love in general. The hair for this one looks a little different – curly? At any rate, I like it.
This colour seems to be popping up everywhere – I love it! And I like the neckline on this one, how it sort of seems to stand up separate from the rest of the dress.
Shoulders! Major 80’s look here. I want that jacket.
My jaw actually dropped.
Love the skirt – the bubbly part of it as well as the pattern – and the neckline. That seems to be a big thing in this collection: interesting necklines.
!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve run out of ways to describe these, because I don’t just want to say “Oh, I love this!” for every single piece, even though it’s (pretty much) true.
Ok, so there you have it – Marc Jacobs Fall 2009 RTW. Preeeetty, I think we can all agree.
