Just a quick look at Gucci. Very 70s-inspired, which I like, though a few proportions have been played with, which is fine. Lots of eye-poppingly bright colors mixed in with more traditional neutral hues, furs and such.

Natasha Poly. I like the top half of this like; the bottom’s too bulky for my liking. The big cape should be paired with a streamlined pant, maybe a flare for the full 70s effect or a slim straight leg.

Again, I like to top half, but the bottom, not so much.

Gucci is always hit-or-miss for me; I’d say this was a hit, though that might just be my love of anything older than 1985  :)

Honestly, I haven’t had time to keep up with any of the fashion weeks… very sad. I can’t help but feel obligated to share this Louis Vuitton shoe with you, though:

Yes, it’s that time of almost-fall again: spring collections are on! Unfortunately, I have basically no time at all between my APs, cross country, and any semblance of a life… oh, and sleep… so this blog has been shunted aside for the past few months. Sigh. (Which really is a pity, because I’ve had some smashing political rants to rant and nowhere to rant them…)

Anyway, just a quick opener: Derek Lam. Very fluid, kind of a 60s/70s vibe – what I got, anyway. (Man am I tired!) (Images from NYmag)

Sorry for no model names, I got the images from NYmag. Though Style.com now has a really handy/cool feature where, for each look, there’s a short clip of the look on the runway. Thanks!

OK, I really need sleep. Later, gator. Er…. yeah, that’s just how out of it I am. Happy Fashion Week!

Collette Dinnigan: as always, ladylike and romantic – mostly black this season, with lace. Darkly feminine, perhaps?

Issa: gave off a rather mixed vibe, varying from black and besequined items – short and very London-edgy – to a few tailored grey capes and jackets to a few furs and graphic floor-length dresses. Not very cohesive, it felt, but cool nonetheless.

(and I mean picks, not “pix” – as in, I’ve picked a few of my favourite of his street style pics)

I feel like I should write about him. He looks like a story. … Isn’t it kind of odd how you can look at a picture of a person, a totally random and normal and very real person, and create your own idea of them – you forget that they’re really living over in Milan, or wherever…

If you’re going to do cargo pants, this is the way to do them.

I’m a blogger, if not a particularly avid one. And I like fashion and style. I’m all for sharing personal style and getting recognition for your skills – stylist or just a very fashionable gal – but when Tavi started to get all the attention, I raised my eyebrows. I mean, sure, it’s an interesting and cute story, but – really? A 13-year-old (or however old she is) getting magazine covers and spreads and fashion week seats – for wearing clothes that don’t match?
Please note: this is not a bitter, jealous rant. It’s a point.
But whatever. I let that slide. But then I came across this:

“Move over Tavi: Meet Katie, Racked’s Guest Fasion Week Blogger!”

Guess how old Katie is. 10? Nope. 8? Nah. Too old. 6? Still not there.

5?

Yes, indeed. There is a five-year-old sitting in fashion week amidst the likes of Caarine Roitfeld and Anna Wintour.

Image Gallery

Yes, she’s cute and yes, she’s wearing a dress – no, those tights are not “avant garde,” as Racked said. They are basic five-year-old tights. They don’t know any better. No self-respecting person would wear those. She is five. And let’s take a look at her in-depth, insightful notes on the Michael Angel show she was “covering”:

KatieMichaelAngelNotes.jpg

Yes. Deep indeed.

Fie upon you, media, for being susceptible to such things.

PS: ah. I just scrolled down to read the comments and there was one from a Racked person – apparently it was a rouse, a “tongue-in-chic (forgive the bad pun!) answer to the child-blogger-gone-wild movement that’s going on in fashion right now.” Ah. I see. And feel rather silly, actually, for not seeing that… but then, it wasn’t immediately obvious.

PPS: Also, apparently she sat on the Racked person’s lap. But still.

I’m putting Halston and Carolina Herrera in the same post because (a) I feel like their vibes were quite similar – refined 60s and 70s fun – and (b) I’m getting tired of posting, haha.

Halston

Bright mini with military details – and those shoes! I wish I could track down a detail image… but alas…

Bara Holotova. I really like this look – something about it, I don’t know – the combination of the color with the sleeves, the hair and the belt – all somehow reminiscent to me of the 70s. And the slit boots – gorgeous.

Carolina Herrera

Thakoon, as Style.com put it, went with the “gloomy military” look – a tried-and-true option. Very retail-appropriate, they also said. In a non-business sense, though, I saw chic, wearable pieces perfect for fall weather. Furs, hoods, tweeds, and WONDERFUL shoes. Not so much gloom – as Fitzgerald’s Amory said in This Side of Paradise, “…the Russians have a monopoly on gloom.” Not so much Thakoon.

Kate Kosushkina.

I love hoods – warm and furry on the inside (perfect for when that brisk November wind starts to really blow!), chic and enigmatic to the outside observer.

Thakoon Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear
Rasa Zukauskaite. I love this look – the ruffle skirt and the cut of the top.

Thakoon Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear
As mentioned before, I’m calling this shoe as a season hit, like the Chloe boot last year.

Thakoon Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear
Chanel Iman. Looks kind of like long johns under that coat…

Thakoon Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear

I like the shoes!!!

Thakoon Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear
Anna Selezneva. Mixing an Inuit-esque hood with straight-laced, buttoned-up Victorian jacket details and feminine ruffles.

Thakoon Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear
Mirte Maas. I like this – the easy layers of mismatched fur and asymmetric light fabrics. All pale hues, too.

Thakoon Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear
Siri Tollerad. Very structural and architerctural.

Thakoon Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear
Sigrid Agren, closing the show.
